Here are the confirmed authors for May's Book Slam...
Beatrice Hitchman was born in London in 1980. She is the author of two novels: Petite Mort and All of You Every Single One (Serpent’s Tail). Both novels were nominated for the Polari Prize and the Historical Writer’s Association Prize, and have been published internationally. She works as a lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Brighton.
Craig Jordan-Baker is interested in natural history and psychogeography. His novel The Nacullians focusses on the lives of three-generations of a working-class Anglo-Irish family which the Irish Times called, 'a multi-layered treatise on memory and the stories we tell ourselves'. His second book If the River is Hidden is a non-fiction collaboration with poet Cherry Smyth about their 2021 River Bann pilgrimage. He is contributing co-editor of Writing Landscape and Setting in the Anthropocene.
D.J. Taylor's novels include Trespass (1998) and Derby Day (2011), both of which were longlisted for the Man Booker Prize. His most recent works of fiction are Stewkey Blues: Stories (2022) and Flame Music (2023), a sequel to Rock and Roll is Life (2018). He is also the author of Orwell: The New Life (2023) and Who is Big Brother? A Reader's Guide to George Orwell (2024).
Sally Harris writes supernatural fiction as S.A. Harris, and her first novel, Haverscroft, was published by Salt Publishing in May 2019. Haverscroft was a semi-finalist for The Book Bloggers Novel of the Year Award 2020, a Den of Geek Top Ten Read 2019 and a recommended read for Halloween 2020 in Prima Magazine. Sally’s second novel, Seahurst, was published in May 2023 and is set on the Suffolk coast, where she spent much of her time growing up. She now lives in Norwich with her husband and three children and works as a prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service.
C.D. Rose is the author of Walter Benjamin Stares at the Sea, a collection of stories about vanishing photographers, distracted philosophers and the state of lostness. He has also written a parafictional trilogy, The Biographical Dictionary of Literary Failure, Who's Who When Everyone is Someone Else and The Blind Accordionist.
